The City of Greensboro Marketing and COmmunications Internship

During my time in college I interned with the City of Greensboro as a Marketing and Communications team member. This is the group that broadcasts government news for Greensboro, NC on Channel 13. I worked on many different video shoots and live streams with the team including city council meetings, FYI Weekly, GPD Case Files, Business Profiles and much more. I got hands on experience setting up lighting and audio equipment as well as using a teleprompter. Overall the experience itself was very enjoyable. I made a lot of great connections and had a good time bonding with the staff. My favorite memory was working late nights in the control room helping live stream the city council meetings. I also enjoyed being a part of the setup crew for the local fire station graduation that we broadcasted.

While I was in school I worked on staff with the A&T Register which is the schools online news publication. We were in charge of coming up with weekly articles about school events, sports, and student affairs. The team won online publication awards this year for consistency and well written articles. We had multiple social media outlets including Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram, and an official website. I was on the photography team and covered mainly campus events but I did also cover sports if the other photographers were too busy. I created some short form videos from time to time also for social media. You can find articles that my photos were published on in the link down below.

Extraordinary Experiences

I worked on the media team for the North Carolina Allstar band (NCAB) as a photographer/videographer. Taking photos and shooting video for their social media platforms to use as promotion.

Head of operations for live streaming at the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network. The webinar livestream hosted by the NCEJN was broadcasted over multiple platforms and fueled resolve for a rural community to fight for changes in their area.

I did a group YouTube project with my nephew where we played through the story of an entire co-op oriented game called “A Way Out”. This was by far my favorite project to work on to this day. The experience taught me how to record audio and edit visuals for both people in the room simultaneously. I also got to create a lifelong memory playing a game with one of my favorite people. The video series is up on YouTube in a playlist for everyone to watch.

I am a musician. I have 12 years of experience playing the Trumpet. From 6th grade all the way through college I learned about music and I was even in marching band for 8 of those years. I was presented 2 awards for most outstanding musicianship my senior year (2022). My favorite song to play around with is “The Carnival of Venice”.
